Introduction
At Watchtower, we offer a variety of authentication methods to meet the diverse needs of our users. Whether you prefer to log in using your existing Microsoft or Google account, a secure magic link, or a traditional email and password, we've got you covered. In this documentation, we will provide an overview of the three main authentication methods available on the Watchtower platform: OAuth, Magic Link, and Email and Password. Each method has its own unique benefits, and we encourage you to choose the one that works best for you.
OAuth:
Watchtower offers an easy and secure way to log in to your account using your existing Microsoft or Google account. Simply click on the "Sign in with Microsoft" or "Sign in with Google" button, and you'll be redirected to the respective authentication page. After successfully logging in, you'll be redirected back to Watchtower, where your account will be linked to your OAuth provider for future use.
Magic Link:
Our Magic Link authentication method allows you to log in to your Watchtower account with a secure link sent directly to your email. This feature eliminates the need to remember a password. To log in using Magic Link, simply click on the "Login with Magic Link" button, enter your email address, and a secure link will be sent to your email. Click on the link to log in to your Watchtower account.
Email and Password:
In the traditional email and password authentication method, you log in to your Watchtower account with your email and password.
If you forget your password, the "Forgot Password" flow allows you to reset it. Simply enter your email address and a password reset link will be sent to your email. Click on the link to reset your password.
While the traditional email and password authentication method is available on the Watchtower platform, it is not required and we strongly encourage our users to consider alternative authentication methods such as OAuth or Magic Link. Password authentication can be vulnerable to security threats such as phishing, brute-force attacks, and data breaches, whereas OAuth and Magic Link offer a more secure and convenient login experience. By using OAuth or Magic Link, you can avoid the risk of having your password compromised, and enjoy a smoother and more secure login process.
